And the winner is....
/I'm thrilled to have won Pan MacMillan's Great Britain in Colour competition with my illustrations of my favourite UK places.
The national competition was run by the publisher celebrating the release of Great Britain in Colour, a beautiful book of illustrations by artist Paul Farrell.
My prize is a meeting with Pan MacMillan's art department to learn about book design and illustration. This came as a wonderful surprise as I'd been feeling a little unsure about my painting ability, but having them chosen by Paul from such a brilliant and varied array of entries, has given a boost to my confidence.
Furthermore, regulars to my blog may recognise these images from my 30-day painting challenge back in April 2016, when I created a painting from a chosen inspiration every two days. So each of these works was completed in a relatively short amount of time. I remember enjoying the spontaneity and energy of the process, not worrying too much about the final image.
And now they are prize winners! That's one in the eye for my perfectionism :)
A selection of these paintings are available to buy as giclée prints here
